EC/Russia Agreement on cooperation in science and technology: renewal
PURPOSE: to renew the Agreement on cooperation in science and technology between the EC and Russia.
LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council Decision 2009/313/EC concerning the renewal of the Agreement on cooperation in science and technology between the European Community and the Government of the Russian Federation.
CONTENT: the Council adopted a decision approving the renewal of the EU/Russia cooperation agreement on science and technology for an additional period of five years.
Recall that by Decision 2000/742/EC (see CNS/2002/0243), the Council approved the conclusion of the Agreement on cooperation in science and technology between the EC and Russia, which was renewed for a first 5 years by Decision 2003/798/EC (see CNS/2003/0041).
As this renewed Agreement also expired on 20Â February 2009, the contracting parties agreed to renew the Agreement on cooperation in science and technology for a second time for a further five years.
The new Agreement shall be identical to the previous version so as to maintain continuity in the scientific and technological relations between Russia and the European Community.
ENTRY INTO FORCE: the Agreement shall enter into force on the day on which the Contracting Parties notify each other that the procedures necessary to this end have been completed.
