Conservation of fishery resources: recovery plan for Greenland halibut in the framework of the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO)

PURPOSE: to implement in Community law a recovery plan for Greenland halibut adopted by the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO).

LEGISLATIVE ACT :  Council Regulation (EC) No 1197/2009 amending Regulation (EC) No 2115/2005 establishing a recovery plan for Greenland halibut in the framework of the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation

CONTENT: the Council adopted a regulation amending Regulation (EC) No 2115/2005 on the Greenland halibut recovery plan with the purpose of bringing it into line with modifications adopted by the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO).

At its annual meeting held in September 2007, NAFO adopted a number of amendments on the Greenland halibut recovery plan, which relate to enhanced measures for catch reporting and additional control measures designed to enhance at-sea inspections for vessels entering and leaving the NAFO regulatory area.
