Freedom of movement for workers within the Union. Codification

The European Parliament adopted by 565 votes to 10, with 19 abstentions, a legislative resolution on the proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on freedom of movement for workers within the Union (codified version).

It adopted its position at first reading under the ordinary legislative procedure (formerly known as the codecision procedure) taking over the Commission’s proposal.

According to the Consultative Working Party of the legal services of the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission, the proposal in question contains a straightforward codification of the existing texts without any change in their substance.
