Mobilisation of the EU Solidarity Fund: earthquakes in Italy in 2012

The Committee on Budgets adopted the report by José Manuel FERNANDES (EPP, PT) on the proposal for a decision of the European Parliament and of the Council on mobilisation of the European Union Solidarity Fund, in accordance with point 26 of the Interinstitutional Agreement of 17 May 2006 between the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission on budgetary discipline and sound financial management.

The proposal for a decision seeks to mobilise the sum of EUR 670 192 359 in commitment and payment appropriations for the financial year 2012 in favour of Italy, following a series of earthquakes on its territory. An amending budget shall be adopted in parallel in order to formally enter in the 2012 budget the corresponding commitment and payment appropriations (see BUD/2012/2242).
