EP Rules of Procedure, Rules 148a (new) and 156(1): electronic signatures

The European Parliament decided by 660 votes to 9, with 5 abstentions, to amend Parliament's Rules of Procedure so as to allow for the possibility of electronic signatures.

A new Rule 148a on the electronic handling of documents has been introduced: it stipulates that Parliament documents may be prepared, signed and distributed in electronic form. The Bureau should decide on the technical specifications and on the presentation of the electronic form.
