Single Resolution Board: renewal of the term of office of the Chair

PURPOSE: to renew the term of office of the Chair of the Single Resolution Board.

NON-LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council Implementing Decision (EU) 2017/2437 on the renewal of the term of office of the Chair of the Single Resolution Board.

CONTENT: the Council decided to renew Elke König’s term as Chair of the Single Resolution Board for a period of five years from 23 December 2017.

On 29 November 2017, the Commission submitted its proposal for the renewal of the term of office of Ms Elke KÖNIG Chair of the Single Resolution Board in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 806/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing uniform rules and a uniform procedure for the resolution of credit institutions and certain investment firms in the framework of a Single Resolution Mechanism and a Single Resolution Fund and amending Regulation (EU) No 1093/2010. The European Parliament gave its approval to this proposal on 12 December 2017.

Regulation (EU) No 806/2014 stipulates that the term of office of the first Chair of the SRB may be renewed once for a period of five years.
