EC/Uzbekistan Partnership and Cooperation Agreement: accession of Croatia to the EU. Protocol

PURPOSE: to approve, on behalf of the Union, the Protocol to the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement establishing a partnership between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and Uzbekistan, of the other part, to take account of Croatia's accession to the European Union.

NON-LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council Decision (EU) 2018/1194 on the conclusion, on behalf of the Union and of the Member States, of the Protocol to the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement establishing a partnership between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of Uzbekistan, of the other part, to take account of the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union.

CONTENT: the Council decided to approve, on behalf of the European Union, the Protocol to the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement establishing a partnership between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of Uzbekistan, of the other part, to take account of the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union.

The Partnership and Cooperation Agreement establishing a partnership between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and Uzbekistan, of the other part, was signed on 21 June 1996 and entered into force on 1 July 1999.

In accordance with its Act of Accession, Croatia has undertaken to accede to international agreements signed or concluded by the European Union and its Member States by means of a protocol to these agreements. The Protocol to the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement to take account of Croatia's accession to the European Union was signed on 17 July 2017, subject to its conclusion at a later date.
