Appointment of a member of the European Commission - Ioan Mircea PASCU (RO)

PURPOSE: to nominate Ioan Mircea PAŞCU (RO) as an interim member of the European Commission.

PROPOSED ACT: Council Decision.

ROLE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT: the Council adopts the act after consulting the European Parliament but without being obliged to follow its opinion.

CONTENT: following a letter dated 3 July 2019 from the Prime Minister of Romania, addressed to Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Council proposes to nominate Ioan Mircea PAŞCU (RO) as an interim member of the European Commission for the remaining timeframe of the current institutional mandate of the European Commission.

In the light of the resignation of Corina Cretu, from the European Commission, Ioan Mircea PAŞCU is nominated as the interim Romanian member of the European Commission.
