Mobilisation of the European Union Solidarity Fund: assistance to Germany and Italy relating to floods occurred in 2024

PURPOSE: to mobilise the European Union Solidarity Fund to provide assistance to Germany and Italy following the floods in 2024.

NON-LEGISLATIVE ACT: Decision (EU) 2024/3105 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the mobilisation of the European Union Solidarity Fund to provide assistance to Germany and Italy relating to floods occurred in 2024.

CONTENT: the European Union Solidarity Fund aims to enable the Union to respond rapidly, effectively and flexibly to emergency situations in order to express its solidarity with the population of regions affected by major or regional natural disasters or by a major public health emergency.

For the general budget of the Union for the financial year 2024, the following amounts, in commitment and payment appropriations, will be mobilised under the European Union Solidarity Fund for natural disasters:

(a) EUR 112 071 681 for Germany in relation to the floods that occurred in May and June 2024;

(b) EUR 3 959 872 for Italy in relation to the floods that occurred on 29 June 2024 in the autonomous region of Valle d'Aosta.
