EU/Bosnia and Herzegovina Agreement on cooperation between Eurojust and the competent authorities for judicial cooperation in criminal matters of Bosnia and Herzegovina
The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs adopted a report by Jaroslav BOCH (PfE, CZ) on the draft Council decision on the conclusion on behalf of the European Union of the Agreement between the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina on the cooperation between the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) and the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina competent for judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
Members recommended that Parliament give its consent to the conclusion of the agreement.
As a reminder, the objective of this agreement is to enhance judicial cooperation between Eurojust and the competent authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to more efficiently combat serious crime, which very often is transnational and extends to countries outside of the European Union. This agreement will allow for the transfer of personal data between Eurojust and the competent authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to support and strengthen the action by the competent authorities in investigating and prosecuting serious crime, in particular organised crime and terrorism.
At the same time, it will ensure appropriate safeguards with respect to privacy and protection of personal data as well as providing added value in ensuring safer and more secure Europe.
