Visas: third countries whose nationals must be in possession of a visa when they are crossing external borders

Political agreement was reached at the meeting of the General Affairs Council on 17 July 1995 on the Regulation, the Italian delegation having withdrawn its objection to the inclusion of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) in the list established by the Regulation. This Regulation does not prevent the Member States from maintaining national lists that include countries that are not on the common list annexed to the Regulation. The main provisions of the Regulation will enter into force six months after the publication of the Regulation in the Official Journal.
