Specific measures for live plants and floricultural products
1996/0155(CNS)
Without prejudging its decision as to the details of the Commission’s proposal, which was to be taken in the light of Parliament’s opinion, the Council considered that the level of spending planned for the first year should be increased from ECU 10 million to ECU 15 million. Expenditure for the following years should be determined according to experience. The Council called on the Commission to develop a strategy and to present a ‘strategy paper’ to the Council as soon as possible so as to lay down the guidelines for future negotiations on new tariff concessions in the floriculture sector with a view to preventing disruption to this sector caused by the unregulated increase in imports.
