Car industry: approval of retroreflecting markings, UN/ECE Regulation 104

PURPOSE: to permit the accession of the Community to Regulation 104 of the EEC/UN concerning the approval of retro-reflecting markings for heavy and long vehicles and their trailers. COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Decision 2001/506/EC on the accession of the EU to Regulation 104 of the UN concerning the approval for production of retro-reflecting markings for heavy and long vehicles and their trailers. CONTENT: This Council Decision refers to the accession of the Community to Regulation 104 of the EEC/UN concerning the approval for the production of retro-reflecting markings for heavy and long vehicles and their trailers. In particular, this decision seeks to abolish the technical barriers to trade in motor tyres with regard to retreaded pneumatic tyres while ensuring a high level of safety and environmental protection. Regulation 104 should be incorporated into the Community approval system for motor vehicles and should thus be added to th legislation in force within the Community. ENTRY INTO FORCE: 26.06.2001.�
