Euro: protection against counterfeiting, criminal penalties. Framework Decision. Initiative Sweden

PURPOSE : to increase protection for the euro by criminal penalties. COMMUNITY MEASURE : Council Framework Decision 2001/888/JHA amending Framework Decision 2000/383/JHA on increasing protection by criminal penalties and other sanctions against counterfeiting in connection with the introduction of the euro. CONTENT : This Decision supplements Framework Decision 2000/383/JHA by inserting a provision on the recognition of previous convictions. Every Member State must recognise the principle of the recognition of previous convictions under the conditions prevailing under its domestic law and will recognise for the purpose of establishing habitual criminality final sentences handed down in another Member State for the offences referred to in the aforementioned Framework Decision.
