Transport of dangerous goods by road: uniform procedures for checks

PURPOSE : to amend Directive 95/50/EC on the transport of dangerous goods by road in light of technical progress.
COMMUNITY MEASURE : Directive 2001/26/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Council Directive 95/50/EC on uniform procedures for checks on the transport of dangerous goods by road.
CONTENT : Council Directive 94/55/EC introduced uniform rules for the transportation of dangerous goods by road. Annex A lists the dangerous goods that may be carried and gives rules for packaging and labelling. Annex B lays down rules for the vehicles.
Directive 95/50/EC on uniform procedures for checks on the transport of dangerous goods by road includes a harmonised check list, as well as a harmonised list of infringements. The Annexes are related to the Annexes of Directive 94/55/EC in such a way that adaptation to scientific progress if Annexes to 94/55/EC may affect the Annexes to Directive 95/50/EC is made using a Committee procedure.
Member States shall bring into force laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to comply with this Directive no later than 23 December 2001.
ENTRY INTO FORCE : this Directive shall enter into force on 23/06/2001.�
