Fruit juices and certain similar products intended for human consumption

PURPOSE : to establish rules on the marketing and manufacture of fruit juices COMMUNITY MEASURE : Council Directive 2001/112/EC relating to fruit juices and certain similar products intended for human consumption. CONTENT : The products within the scope of the Directive are listed in the Annex. Member States may authorise the addition of vitamins and minerals to certain of these products. Directive 2001/13/EC on labelling will apply to the products within the scope of the legislation, subject to certain conditions which relate specifically to fruit juices and similar products. These include the following: - fruit juices with added sugar will contain the word "sweetened" or "with added sugar", followed by an indication of the maximum quantity of sugar added. - juices made with concentrate will specify that fact, with the information entered close to the product name. The Directive also lists the treatments and substances and the raw materials which may be used in manufacture. Directive 93/77/EEC is repealed with effect from 12/07/03.
