Fisheries sector: structural assistance, extension of the derogation (derog. Regulation (EC) No 2792/1999)

PURPOSE : to extend, until 31 December 2001, the grant for compensation for temporary suspension of fishing activities to the crew and owners of vessels concerned since 1 January 2000. COMMUNITY MEASURE : Council Regulation 1227/2001/EC derogating from certain provisions of Regulation 2792/1999/EC laying down the detailed rules and arrangements regarding Community structural assistance in the fisheries sector. CONTENT : it is recalled that Spain and Portugal have received financial contribution for 12 months from the Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance (FIFG) to compensate for aid given by these countries to fishermen and shipowners who were affected by the expiry if the Fisheries Agreement with Morocco on 30 November 1999. This scheme for temporary aid was given, in accordance with Regulation 2792/1999/EC until December 2000. ENTRY INTO FORCE : 26/06/2001.�
