Common agricultural policy (CAP): direct support schemes

PURPOSE : to set up a simplified aid scheme for farmers receiving small amounts of aid in order to reduce the administrative burden at the level of the farmers. COMMUNITY MEASURE : Council Regulation 1244/2001/EC amending Regulation 1259/1999/EC establishing common rules for direct support schemes under the common agricultural policy. CONTENT : this Regulation aims to reduce the adminstrative burden for farmers and for the national and community administrations, through the voluntary application of a simplified scheme for the payment of certain forms of direct aid to farmers receiving small amounts of such aid (maximum EUR 1250 per annum). In particular, the new scheme allows for farmers claiming small amounts to file a single consolidated claim. The scheme will apply for a trial period from 2002 to 2005. ENTRY INTO FORCE : 04/07/2001.�
