Air pollution: measures to be taken against emissions from motor vehicles (amend. Directive 70/220/EEC)

PREVIOUS COMMUNITY LEGISLATION: basic Directive 70/220/EEC (OJ L 76/1 of
06.04.70) lays down limit values for carbon monoxide and unburnt
hydrocarbon emissions from positive ignition engines of motor
vehicles. Modified by Directives 77/102/EEC, 83/351/EEC, 88/76/EEC,
88/436/EEC, 89/436/EEC, 89/458/EEC. Most recent amendments are: dir.
91/441/EEC (OJ L 242 of 30.08.91) which covers exhaust emission standards
(on the basis of a new combined urban and extra-urban test cycle) and
evaporative emissions for Light Duty vehicles. Dir. 94/12/EEC (OJ L 100/42
of 19.04.94) which applies from 1996 reductions of 30% CO, 55% HC+NOx for
gasoline vehicles, and, 68% CO, 38% HC+NOx, 55% particulate (Pm) emissions
for Indirect Injection diesel vehicles.
