Ombudsman: regulations and general conditions of performance of duties

The committee adopted the report by Teresa ALMEIDA GARRETT (EPP-ED, P) proposing that Articles 12 and 16 of the regulations governing the performance of the Ombudsman's duties be deleted (these articles refer to the Ombudsman's budget as being annexed to Parliament's budget). This change in the regulations was needed because, at Parliament's request, Council had amended the Financial Regulation so as to create a specific section for the Ombudsman within the general EU budget. The purpose of the report was therefore to bring the regulations governing the performance of the Ombudsman's duties into line with the amendment made to the Financial Regulation.�
