Culture: grants to bodies active at European level, 2004-2006 action programme

The committee adopted the report by Ulpu IIVARI (PES, FIN) approving the Council's common position under the 2nd reading of the codecision procedure, subject to a few technical amendments. These were aimed at bringing the agreement reached by the Council of Culture Ministers into line with the agreement reached between Parliament and Council in the course of the budget conciliation (concerning transitional periods for the organisations mentioned in Annex II). The committee also introduced transitional provisions to take account of the fact that the act could not be adopted before the beginning of 2004. In this way, beneficiaries would be able to claim a grant for the totality of their eligible costs in 2004. �
