Common organisation of the markets in processed fruit and vegetable products

2001/0052(CNS)
PURPOSE : to amend Regulation 2201/96/EC on the common organisation of the markets in processed fruit and vegetable products. CONTENT : Regulation 2699/2000/EC extensively amends the Community aid scheme for the processing of tomatoes, peaches and pears covered by Article 2 to 6 of Title I of Regulation 2201/96/EC on the common organisation of the markets in processed fruit and vegetable products. However, it does not amend the aid scheme for the production of dried prunes and figs, which also appears in those same Articles. With a view to clarity, however, these provisions have been regrouped under three new Articles: 6a, 6b and 6c. As a result, the aid scheme for the production of dried figs and prunes, previously established by Article 2 of Regulation 2201/96/EC is now established by Article 6a of that Regulation. The purpose of this proposal is to simply correct Regulation 2201/96/EC. The effects of this amendment will be felt from the start of the 2001/02 marketing year for each of the products in question, i.e. 1 July in the case of dried figs and 1 September 2001 in the case of prunes.
