The committee adopted the report by Piia-Noora KAUPPI (EPP-ED, FIN) broadly approving the proposal under the codecision procedure (1st reading), subject to a number of mainly technical amendments. In particular, it called for short-term measures to limit fraud in the current system, until the new system is up and running, insisted that the cost of the new system should not be a burden to companies and emphasised the need to protect data from unauthorised access. �
