2004/0058(CNS)
PURPOSE : Extension of the fishing Protocol between the EU and Cape Verde.
PROPOSED ACT : Council Regulation
CONTENT : On 30 June 2004 the Protocol to the Fisheries Agreement between the European Community and the Republic of Cape Verde is due to expire. Following a meeting between the EU and representatives of Cape Verde in October 2003 it was agreed to extend the Protocol by one year starting from 1 July 2004 to 30 June 2005. The Commission proposes that the Council adopt the Agreement in the form of an Exchange of Letters extending the Protocol. A proposal for a Council Decision on the provisional application of the Agreement in the form of an Exchange of Letters concerning the extension of the Protocol pending its definitive entry into force will be issued alongside this proposal under a separate procedure.
