Air pollution: measures to be taken against emissions from motor vehicles (amend. Directive 70/220/EEC)

The comittee adopted the report by Mrs. Undine-Uta BLOCH VON BLOTTNITZ on the proposal for a EP and Council Directive amending Directive 70/220/EEC on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to measures to be taken against air pollution from the emissions from motors vehicles. In the coclusions of her report Mrs. BLOCH VON BLOTTNITZ says that the limit values, proposed by the Commission for light commercial vehicles, are far too high in the case of categories II and III. She saw all her amendments adopted, asking for stricter measures. The rapporteur felt that the implementation of her amendments is technically feasable and can be accomplished by the industry in time. The amendments are identical with the Council's proposals (93/59/EEC), and have been known to the industry since 1993.
