Migrants from Iraq and the neighbouring region: EU action plan adopted by the Council on 26.01.1996

The committee adopted a report on Council's action plan on the influx of migrants from Iraq adopted last year. Rapporteur Anna TERRÓN I CUSÍ (PSE, S) protested the fact that the Council took its decision in January last year before consulting Parliament, thereby establishing the action plan unlawfully. The committee therefore believed that Member States may not base any legislative action on it and that the Commission should submit a new proposal within three months. �
