EC/Guinea-Bissau fisheries agreement: protocol for the period from 16 June 2001 to 15 June 2006

The committee adopted the report by Arlindo CUNHA (EPP-ED, P) approving the proposal under the consultation procedure subject to a few amendments. In view of the financial and social importance of targeted measures, which had been given a new emphasis under the Protocol, the committee wanted the Commission to forward to Parliament and the Council the annual report on targeted measures which the Guinea-Bissau authorities were now required to provide. Moreover, before the start of negotiations to renew the Protocol, the committee wanted the Commission to submit to Parliament and the Council a report on the implementation of the Agreement, including a cost benefit analysis.�
