1994/95 AGRICULTURAL PRICES:
Because potato starch production exceeded the 1.5 million tonnes threshold in 1993/94, measures to control production needed to be taken in accordance with Council Regulation (EEC) No 1543/93, which fixed the amount of premium paid to producers of the product during the marketing years 1993/94 to 1995/96. In this particular case a production quota scheme was recommended with a total volume of 1.5 million tonnes, to be divided between the producer Member States on the basis of the average quantities they produced during the marketing years 1990/91 to 1992/93 (with a corrective factor for Germany to take account of reunification). Any quantity produced in excess of this would go for export, without refund or payment of the special premium, and without the potatoes used in its production qualifying for the minimum price or the countervailing duty.
