Fisheries and aquaculture sector: arrangements regarding Community structural assistance (amend. Regul. 3699/93/EEC)

OBJECTIVE : amendment of Regulation (EC) No 3699/93 with a view to encouraging the permanent withdrawal from the fleet of vessels more than 30 years old. SUBSTANCE : - the ceiling on premiums for scrapping of a vessel will remain constant whatever the age of the vessel withdrawn more than 30 years old. Its level will be limited to the amount for vessels 30 years old; - in view of the exceptional character of measures for temporary cessation of fishing activities, a ceiling will be set for the Community funds allocated. The grant cannot therefore exceed, for each calendar year and for each Member State, ECU 200 000 or 0.5% of the funds foreseen in the financial plan for each Member State for the year concerned, whichever amount is the greater. �
