Transport of dangerous goods by road, inland waterways or rail: examination requirements for safety advisers

OBJECTIVE: to improve the safety of the transport of dangerous goods in the Community by
harmonizing to a high standard examination requirements for safety advisers.
SUBSTANCE: the proposal for a Directive seeks to harmonize the regulations of the Member
States concerning examinations qualifying successful candidates as safety advisers for the transport
of dangerous goods by road, rail or inland waterway. The proposal lays down minimum
requirements regarding the organization and substance of the examinations. It also sets conditions
for participation by enterprises which wish to offer their services as examiners, and determines the
role of the competent national authorities.
