Registration documents for motor vehicles and their trailers

The Commission's amended proposal accepts without reserve amendments by the European Parliament referring to the following: - the Commission will communicate to all Member States all models of registration certificates used by the national administrations; - adding the engine identification number of the registration certificate as an obligatory item of information. However, the Commission is unable to accept amendments relating to the following: - the addition of a new recital into the preamble to the effect that this proposal is the first step to greater harmonisation; - changing the dates of implementation to take account of the actual time frame of the proposal; - calling for the possibility to show details of anti-fraud security markings or codes which have been placed on the vehicles and its parts.�
