Extraction solvents used in the production of foodstuffs and food ingredients

In view of the provisional approval given by the Scientific Committee for Food (SCF), the European Parliament and Council Directive sought to permit the use of the solvent cyclohexane, which is employed in the preparation of flavourings, pending the final opinion of the SCF. Member States would amend their laws, regulations and administrative provisions in such a way as to permit trade in products complying with the Directive at the latest by 7.12.1995. �
