2001/0099(CNS)
PURPOSE : to fix the aid for the seeds sector.
COMMUNITY MEASURE : Council Regulation 154/2002/EC amending regulation 2358/71/EEC on the common organisation of the market in seeds and fixing the aid granted in the seeds sector for the 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 marketing years.
CONTENT : This Regulation introduces a mechanism to stabilise the production of seeds other than rice seeds. It sets a maximum quantity eligible for aid determined on the basis of a representative average quantity harvested during a recent reference period and also a margin to take account of the cyclic fluctuations that are characteristic of seed production. The Directive allows for the preservation or development of viable small production sectors by guaranteeing a minimum quantity for Member States where there is little or no seed production. Aid is also fixed for certain seeds in accordance with the Annex to the document.
