Application of control measures adopted by the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation NAFO (amend. Regul. 189/92/EEC)

-OBJECTIVE: introducing additional control measures applicable to fishing vessels operating in the NAFO Regulatory Area (specifically covering reporting of catches), following the conclusion of an EC-Canada fisheries agreement, signed on 20 April 1995. -COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Regulation (EC) No 3068/95 amending Regulation (EEC) No 189/92 adopting provisions for the application of certain control measures adopted by the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization. -SUBSTANCE: The above measures cover the reporting on catches from Community vessels entering and leaving the NAFO Regulatory Area. . Vessels must use a new hail system to report the volume and composition of their catch. The information to be transmitted will cover the quantity and the species fished according to a specific code. . Any transshipment in the NAFO Regulatory Area must be the subject of a report to the competent authority containing the following particulars: name of vessel, call sign, external identification letters and numbers, the date, time and geographical position, the name of the Master, the total round weight by species to be transshipped and indication of the message code: 'TRANS'. . Vessels equipped with devices which enable the automatic transmission of their position are exempt from certain hail requirements. -ENTRY INTO FORCE: 6 January 1996. �
