Convention on fisheries and the conservation of fish stocks in the Baltic Sea and the Belts

-OBJECTIVE: approval by the Community of the amendment to Article VII of the Gdansk Convention in order to establish a closer link between the financial contributions of the Contracting Parties and the size of the fishery resources allocated to them. -COMMUNITY MEASURE : Council Decision 96/91/EC concerning the approval of the amendment to Article VII of the Convention on fishing and conservation of the living resources in the Baltic Sea and the Belts. -SUBSTANCE : At the 20th session of the International Baltic Sea Fishery Commission, instructed, under the Gdansk Convention, to coordinate the management of the living resources in the Baltic Sea, an amendment of the Gdansk Convention (to which the Community acceded on 18 March 1984) was negotiated by the Contracting Parties to the effect that the total amount of the budget should be contributed to by the Contracting Parties according to the following formula: . one-third of the budget to be divided equally among the Contracting Parties, . two-thirds of the budget to be divided in proportion to the TACs available to the Contracting Parties in accordance with the Financial Regulation of the Baltic Commission. -ENTRY INTO FORCE : The amendment will enter into force 90 days after the Depository Government has received notification of acceptance of that amendment from all Contracting Parties. �
