Supplementary and amending budget 2/2000

On the 29.06.2000, the Council established a draft supplementary and amending budget (SAB) 1/2000 which fully accepts the Commission's proposal. On that occasion the Council emphasised that a SAB should, in accordance with Article 15 of the Financial Regulation, respond to "unavoidable, exceptional ou unforeseen circumstances", and referred to the commitment given by the European Parliament to keep its budget under the 20% ceiling of heading 5 of the financial perspective. Under SAB 2/2000, the overall increase of expenditure under heading 5 is therefore EUR 21,635 million (15 million EUR for the Parliament and 6,635 million for the Council). The amount to be financed from own resources has to be modified accordingly. After establishment of this SAB, the new margin available under the ceiling for this heading stands at 72,7 million EUR.�
