EC/Kyrgyzstan Interim Agreement on trade and trade-related matters

OBJECTIVE: to conclude an interim agreement between the European Communities and Kyrgyzstan on trade and trade-related matters.

COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council decision 97/567/ECSC/EC/EURATOM on the conclusion by the European Community of the interim agreement between the European Community, the European Coal and Steel Community and the European Atomic Energy Community, of the one part, and the Kyrgyz Republic, of the other part, on trade and trade-related matters.

CONTENT: this interim agreement, which was signed by the parties on 28 November 1996, allows the trade and trade-related section of the partnership and cooperation agreement between the European Communities and this country to be applied on a provisional basis pending the final entry into force of the partnership agreement. This interim agreement suspends the commercial sections of the trade and commercial and economic agreement concluded between the European Community and the USSR in 1989 which refer specifically to Kyrgyzstan.

ENTRY INTO FORCE: the interim agreement will enter into force once the necessary notifications have been made by all parties.
