Foodstuffs intended for particular nutritional uses (amend. Directive 89/398/EEC)

In adopting the report by Mr Giacomo LEOPARDI (UPE, I), the European Parliament approved the proposal on foodstuffs for particular nutritional uses with the following amendments: - the authorisation for marketing products should be temporary; - with regard to comitology: authorisation should only be granted after consultation of the Scientific Committee for Food and in accordance with the interinstitutional "modus vivendi" of 20 December 1994 relating to implementing measures for acts adopted under the codecision procedure; - the information concerning newly developed foodstuffs should remain confidential during the authorisation procedure. �
