Conditions for structural measures in the fisheries and aquaculture sector (amend. regul. 3699/93/EEC)

OBJECTIVE: to amend for the fourth time Regulation (EEC) No 3699/93 laying down criteria and arrangements regarding Community structural assistance in the fisheries and aquaculture sector and for processing and marketing of its products. COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Regulation (EC) No 25/97. SUBSTANCE: the Regulation makes three modifications to Regulation (EC) No 3699/93/: - product promotion: reference should be allowed in promotional operations to the origin of a product or location of a processing procedure providing that recognition has been obtained under Council Regulation (EEC) No 2081/92 on protection of geographical indications and designations of origin for agricultural products and foodstuffs. The terms of eligibility of promotional measures are therefore widened to include such cases. - Launching aids for producers' organizations: it is necessary to mention, in Article 13 of Regulation (EC) No 3699/93, the financial aid granted to producers' organizations implementing a plan to improve the quality and marketing of their products; - confirmation of the budgetary conversion rate for the ecu (budgetary ecu): for the sake of clarity, the budgetary rate for the ecu is the only one to be used for the FIFG since 1 January 1994.
