Development of trans-European networks in the energy sector
1994/0010(SYN)
Adopting the recommendation for second reading by Mr ADAM (PSE, UK) on actions to create a more favourable context for the development of trans-European networks, the European Parliament approved the Council's common position with the following amendments:
- it recommended that financial resources earmarked for the networks be used by the Community to support efforts undertaken by Member States in the form of aid for economic, social and technical feasibility studies and, where necessary, for loan guarantees or interest-rate subsidies;
- it reiterated that priority should be given to trans-European energy networks which fostered economic and social cohesion, taking account of economic, social and technical factors;
- finally, with regard to comitology, it called for provision to be made for an advisory committee.
