Transport of dangerous goods by road, inland waterways or rail: examination requirements for safety advisers

1998/0106(COD)
Adopting the report by Mr Dieter-Lebrecht Koch (EPP, D) on examination requirements for safety advisors for the transport of dangerous goods, Parliament calls principally for: - an EC certificate of training issued after passing the examination to be recognised by all Member States and the European Economic Area; - the certificate to be valid for five years, automatically renewed for a five year period, on condition that the holder has taken refresher courses and/or passed an examination during the final year before its expiry; Parliament considers that candidates should be able to demonstrate in a case study that they have the ability to fulfil the tasks of an adviser; the examination is to take the form of a written examination but may be supplemented by an oral test.
