A support system of producers of certain arable crops: durum wheat (amend. Regul. 1765/92/EEC)

OBJECTIVE: to amend Regulation (EEC) No 1765/92 establishing a support system for producers of durum wheat. COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Regulation (EC) No 2309/97 amending Regulation (EC) No 1765/92 establishing a support system for producers of certain arable crops. SUBSTANCE: following the political agreement of 20/21 October 1997, the Council adopted by a qualified majority (the Danish, Greek and Swedish delegations voting against) an amendment to the Regulation establishing a support system for producers of durum wheat. The aim of this amendment is to: - replace the system of national registers of production rights by a system of maximum guaranteed areas for each producer Member State; - require the use of certified seed; - introduce measures to ensure that production levels correspond to sown areas. ENTRY INTO FORCE: 25 November 1997. The Regulation is applicable as from the 1999/2000 marketing year. �
