Aid to shipbuilding: prolongation of the 7th directive to the 31/12/98

OBJECTIVE: to amend Regulation (EC) No 3094/95 and extend the application of the relevant provisions of the '7th Council Directive' on aid to shipbuilding (Directive 90/684/EEC). COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Regulation (EC) No 2600/97 amending Regulation (EC) No 3094/95 on aid to shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: the Council, acting by a qualified majority, with Sweden and Finland voting against, again extended the application of the provisions of Directive 90/684/EEC on aid to shipbuilding. The Directive will therefore remain applicable until the entry into force of the OECD Agreement respecting normal competitive conditions in the commercial shipbuilding and repair industry, and not later than 31/12/1998.
