Research RTD, 5th EC framework-programme 1998-2002: specific programme "innovation and participation of SMEs"

Following the successful conclusion of the conciliation procedure between the Parliament and the Council regarding the Fifth Framework Programme, the Parliament then adopted its opinion on the specific RTD programme on 'promotion of innovation and encouragement of participation of SMEs', drafted by Ms. PLOOIJ-VAN GORSEL (NL, ELDR). The budget will be 363 million ECU, 78 million of which will be available over the 1998/99 period. 285 million will be available for the period 2000/02. There were several other amendments approved regarding training, the need to promote new approaches of technology transfer, and the dissemination of information on the Internet.�
