Beef and veal: common organisation of the market COM (amend. regul. 805/68/EEC)

OBJECTIVE: to ensure that exports of bovine animals in respect of which Community funding is provided meet animal welfare standards. COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Regulation (EC) No 2634/97 amending Regulation (EEC) No 805/68 on the common organization of the market in beef and veal. SUBSTANCE: the amendment is intended to result in better monitoring of compliance with animal welfare standards in the transport of live bovine animals to third countries, stipulating that export refunds shall be payable only if the relevant rules laid down in Community legislation in this respect are complied with.
