Energy Charter and Protocol on energy efficiency and related environmental aspects

OBJECTIVE: to consolidate the initiative and the central role of the European Communities by enabling them to participate fully in the implementation of the Energy Charter Treaty and the Energy Charter Protocol. COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council and Commission Decision 98/181/EC, ECSC, Euratom. SUBSTANCE: the Energy Charter Treaty and the Energy Charter Protocol on energy efficiency and related environmental aspects are approved on behalf of the Community, the ECSC and Euratom. The principles and objectives of the Charter Protocol will help to improve environmental protection, particularly by promoting energy efficiency. �
