OBJECTIVE: extension of Council Directive 97/81/EC on part-time work to the United Kingdom.
COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Directive 98/23/EC on the extension of Directive 97/81/EC
on the framework agreement on part-time work concluded by UNICE, CEEP and the ETUC to the
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
SUBSTANCE: The Directive extends Directive 97/81/EC on the framework agreement on part-time
work concluded by UNICE, CEEP and the ETUC to the United Kingdom (COS97221) which,
because of the protocol on social policy, did not participate in this agreement.
This extension does not alter the basic text of the directive, except for a provision on the date of
transposition of the framework agreement in the United Kingdom, namely 7 April 2000.
ENTRY INTO FORCE: the decision enters into force on 07.04.1998.
DATE OF TRANSPOSITION IN THE UNITED KINGDOM: 07.04.2000.
