Control of certain fish diseases (amend. direct. 93/53/EEC)

OBJECTIVE: To amend Directive 93/53/EEC introducing minimum Community measures for the control of certain fish diseases. COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Directive 98/45/EC amending Directive 91/67/EEC concerning the animal health conditions governing the placing on the market of aquaculture animals and products. SUBSTANCE: The diseases set out in list III of annex A of Directive 91/67/EEC, including gyrodactylosis, can have serious economic repercussions if they break out in a region which was previously disease free. The directive therefore aims to prevent the spread of these diseases by strengthening the provisions currently applied. ENTRY INTO FORCE: 03/07/98 DEADLINE FOR TRANSPOSITION: 01/07/1999. �
