Security: European network for the protection of public figures. Initiative Spain

The European Parliament adopted the resolution by Lord STOCKTON (EPP-ED, UK) and approved the Spanish initiative on the protection of public figures, with some amendments. (Please refer to the document dated 14/05/02.) Parliament stated that, without adding to the existing structures for cooperation between national intelligence, security and police services, a European network for the protection of public figures could facilitate the exchange of officials, information and experience. Such cooperation should be subject to adequate political and judicial control in the Member States.�
