OBJECTIVE: To consolidate Council Directive 75/129/EEC on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to collective redundancies. COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Directive 98/59/EC on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to collective redundancies. SUBSTANCE: The consolidation of directive 75/129/EEC entirely respects the substance of the consolidated texts; it simply puts them together, with such formal modifications as are required by the consolidation itself. The new consolidated directive repeals Directive 75/129/EEC and its amendment and Directive 92/56/EEC, which have been consolidated. ENTRY INTO FORCE: 01.09.1998.
